Mk3 Golf VR6, running lumpy, codes read 00522/00533/00553

Car has bin standing over Xmas period. now restarted and it runs very lumpy as if only running og 4/5 out of 6 cylinders, with relevenat loss of power....!

Car is 1998 OBDII VR6

just done a handheld code read, results as below;
00522 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor-G62
00533 - Idle Air Control Regulation
00553 - Mass Air Flow Sensor-G70

two questions really, 1) what do the G62/G70 codes relate too?
2) do i need replacement MAF?

Hi,just read your thread.G70 may appear after the lead to the Mass Air Flow Sensor has been unplugged,as mine did.Temperature sensor G62, could be fault with the sensor but not sure where it is on the VR6.It may need replacing.

Ignore the codes, clear them and fit new leads and if that does not work, new plugs and then a new coil pack but it should just be the leads.

Depends on the quality, the metal ends can short to earth.

Codes cleared
Water Temp Sensor replaced today (£17+vat from VW) + Antifreeze!
MAF cleaned (Halfords Contact Cleaner £4)
Codes read - only one 00533 - Idle Air Control Regulation


Road test, seems better but still'missing' a bit.
So advice pls how to rectify 00533 code, thanks

There are two sub levels to that code which you need to know

00533 Idling speed control

Adaption limit exceeded. Throttle valve positioner/potentiometer G88 defective - Check G88

Adaption limit not reached. Unmetered air between air mass meter (G70) and engine - Check intake air system for leaks (unmetered air)
