OK Bought a cheap Arosa for my Son for a couple hundred pounds with a few faults I thought would be easy to fix, but apparently not as there appears to be no user maintenance manual readily available so hope I can get some help from here. Car only done 39K miles so wasn't expecting it to be anything major.
1. Engine ticks over at 500rpm and 1000rpm when started from cold. Engine light is on and reads as interrmittent power loss????
2. Its super slow, I know its only a 1.0 but surely it should be quicker than 26 seconds to 60  and maxes out at 80.

3. Both electric windows are dead, not even any relays can be heard clicking from switches despite swapping them round. At 39k they haven't lasted very long....
4. Passenger seat will not tip forward. Hoping to have a go at this over the next few days.
5. Weld has broken on door stay so taking it to work to get welded next week.
6. Cracked windscreen at bottom of screen. Are these easy to change as been qouyed £400 from autoglas which is more than I paid for the car:aargh4:

Cheers.

Lupo/Polo Haynes manual should help, do you have VCDS to scan it with, I'd shop around on the screen thats seems a little expensive.

Taken the throttle body and inlet off to remove all the build up, but is there anything in particular that would cause low tickover and poor performance evn for a 1.0. Cheers

Did you manage to sort this, does sound like possible throttle clean but will still not run right till its been basic set

Not really, cleaned complete throttle body and also removed manifold and all plumbing, cleaned and replaced as necessary, re-gapped plugs and it still has a low tickover and hesitation on full throttle, almost as if the timing isn't right. Engine light goes out when the battery disconnected for a few hours but comes back on a few hours later, took it to my local mechanic and the readout just says 'interrmittent power loss' whatever that means...

You really need a diagnostic scan with VCDS it sounds like a coolant temperature sensor problem, in any case the throttle body needs aligned properly. If you get a scan and post the fault codes on here someone will know what the problem is.

Been a while but my son now passed his test so ned to fix the engine issues.
Plugged in my VCDs and got the following codes:
17748 camshaft position sensor G40, P1340 incorrect correlation (whereabouts on engine is this?)
17573 long term fuel trim additive air bank 1 range 1 p1165 system too rich
17978 engine start blocked by immobilizer-- intermittent

Hope someone can throw some light on the issues, thanks
