Hi/
I have owned 3 Q5s, & am now waiting on my first A6.(With 75 litre tank).
Build week 5 :o
Can any existing A6 owner tell me:-
How accurate is the prediction of range?
On the Q5 it is worse than useless.
I will fill up at Calais.
It will predict a range of 970km.
My driving style doesn’t change. – That is the actual consumption has been, & remains constant.
To reach the Dordogne, I should have a reserve of some 100km.
I actually struggle to make it on the tankful.
So? Are A6s better?
Rather than start yet another thread:
“Running On Empty”
- How far will the car go before actually running-out after the predicted range reads zero?

This is something I'd be interested in knowing too - prior to taking delivery of my A6. I tend to play a bit of 'diesel roulette' - when the range registers as zero, see how much farther I've got the bottle to drive before filling up.
Can get 60+ miles out of the current Passat....... although I'll not lie, this has backfired a couple times (!)

Was covered on another forum a couple of weeks ago Not So Low Fuel - AudiWorld Forums (http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2838809) would see, there is far bit of safety in the system. Never realised the fuel warning light went from Orange to Red and flashed and not sure I plan to put it to the test. Remember that audiworld is mainly a US forum and as such the gallon capacities are US not Imperial.
Curious to see this thread!
I tend to have the range telling me between 550 and 600 miles (normal tank here.) I normal top the tank up at 1/3 full but on occasion have taken it down to single figures remaining.

one of the main reasons i moved away from my SUV xc60 to the A6 was motorway fuel consumption. The xc60 D5 was good on fuel around town and country but any over about 65 on the motorway was awful: below 40mpg big lump aerodynamics i guess.
I do similar journees to the OP and chose the 75l tank for that reason. In september i drove from brentwood to vienne just south of Lyon 600miles on a full(ish) tank, and the car loaded to the gunnels. The fuel light didnt come on until i started my next journey. Cruised around the french legal limit give or take all the way. Suspect the air suspension helps but can only be 5-10% maybe?
Car is showing 40.5mpg long term average since new over 7000miles. Cant fault that for 300+bhp.
The estimated distance to go vs distance travelled seems to be a fairly steady relationship. if i fill up and its saying range 650 miles once ive done 400 on the trip meter its reading 250 on the range. Much better then previous cars i have owned which seem a little more random, optimistic until you have a quartertank then suddenly run out of miles.
You have nothing to worry about in my experience.
