Hi there.
I have just replaced my 2006 A3 Sportback s-line with a 2011 A3 Sportback s-line...I obviously don't adapt well to change!
The 2011 model does have one rather annoying "feature" though.
If I have the wipers on either intermittent or normal, then turn the ignition off (while leaving the wiper stalk "on"), the wipers do not come back on when the car is restarted unless I turn the stalk "off" and then back "on" again.
Driving round dropping Christmas cards off in the rain was a nightmare the other night as every time I restarted the car the wipers were off until i cancelled through the stalk and switched them back on again.
Is this normal? And more to the point - can it be changed with VCDS?

Does it have auto wipers? Sometimes they can be a bit temperamental getting started, and need a prod

I really have no idea! Any easy way to tell? There is no "auto" setting on the stalk. When the "main full wipe" is active I have noticed that they slow down when the car slows down...any clues?

Cheers Chris. Which bit? The slowing down or the deactivating?

Yeah is a bit confusing! The first position up is auto, although there are no markings to make this obvious. I often find I need to nudge it to get them started first of all
And them slowing down is a feature, if you think about it, you don't need your wipers going full pelt when you are sat at lights, less water will be hitting your screen anyway, so all you would be doing is wearing your wipers quicker

Well on mine the first position up is intermittent, then the next up is full, then fast.

x2 - first position up is "auto" on cars fitted with auto wipers.

Do you know it's not auto though? With mine it's not obvious, and the only time I knew for certain was when I realised it was changing speed in time with the rain!

If you have auto lights, then its got rain sensor aswell, which would be or should be coded for auto wipers, which the 1st notch up is auto wipers.
