hi my golf gt tdi 150 has started to make a whistling sound when accelerating. I know the normal turbo whistle type sound which is normal but this sound has only started to happen, every time you accelerate it makes a whistle type sound, same type sound as when you let air out of a tire but louder. seems to come from passenger side of car, when driving if you open the drivers window you hear normal turbo spool sound but when you open passenger window you can here the leaking air type sound
car drives normal, no black smoke or loss of power, hoping it just a loose pipe, any suggestions please
thanks

I'd be hoping it'd be that too. Best check the obvious first, like split hoses and connections.

Had this before as-well, turned out to be a split hose, best option check for splits and loose hoses

could be a gasket as well , look for soot

The usual leak point on the ARL engine is the fitting for the 90 degree bend hose out of the bottom of the intercooler, the aluminium retaining barbs wear against the steel retaining clip as each boost increase/decrease causes the fitting to move back and forth. Usually a new hose is required and soon it may blow off completely and cause major smoking and loss of power.
