hi new to the forum!
i have owned the A6 2tdi for about a month now and very pleased with it especially the options that came with the car for £29k and only 2k miles on the clock. can anyone suggest what i can do to make this car even better?

merry xmas to all:D

Welcome!

If someone near you has a copy of VCDS, you could ask them to implement some of the tweaks in the VCDS Tricks thread here (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?132245-A6-C7-VCDS-Tricks).

Enjoy the car!! ( and make sure nobody in a Citroen C1 rams into the back of it! :) )

Hee hee. The biggest problems come when they smash into the back of your car, hit under the bumper structure and smash the boot floor in :)

The VCDS software is a free download from the Ross-Tech website. You install it on your laptop, and buy a HEX+CAN USB cable from Gendan or Ilexa to connect your laptop to the car. They are quite pricey, though - around the £270 mark. If you don't want to spend this sort of money, just use the VCDS Users Location thread to find someone in your area with the software and a cable who can help.

Cheers!

just checked your thread doesnt look too good especially the boot area. my mate has a c1 little dinky thing but then it could have been something like a jcb!
i will look up on the vcd stuff has i heard some useful things like mirror dip.
my spec are:
sline
nav plus hdd
ami
night vision
lane/side assist
hud
sunroof

can you change anything with vcds? i defo would like the vim for passengers and is there anyway you can send the image from night vision to the pop up screen?
them cables you mention seems really pricey but would be interested in doing but too scared to mess it up, cant seem to find a decent guide youtube.
thanks again

yes but they will more than likely be clones with no support - believe me, you wont be disappointed with the genuine product

oh dear.. copies. so went to gendan's site and seen the cable so does this link straight to the ami slot and plugged in the laptop and thats it? i might hold out a while as no way i can afford a cable that costs over £250! need to keep up with the payments! lol
so im i right to say is if i want vim i can just do the vcd trick with no additional equipment/cables?

anyone selling vag com cables?:D

it plugs into the diagnostic socket above the throttle pedal

you will need vcds for vim

unfortunately used genuine cables go for £200+ on ebay so unless you trawl owners forums you may find a genuine one cheaper there

Get a genuine cable. Anything else is stealing from Ross-Tech, and also will be tied to specific releases of the software, so you will not be able to upgrade as time goes by.
