Hi, i have a 2009 2.0 tdi a4 143ps although been mapped to aboaut 170. Before and even after map i think the mpg is crap a full tank mainly around town driving im getting 400 miles per tank. I previously had 2009 bmw 320 d what did 520 per tank around town driving. Is their something wrong with my car?

I have a 143 and that sounds about right. I tend to get 55mpg if I really try on a motorway/A road run, otherwise it's late 40's.

town driving and odd 15 mile A road run and I get 40 ish mpg.

i tend to think this cars are built for big miles and long runs, as the aren't good doing what I do!

Its due oil soon 1000 miles. Ive changed air filter a couple of weeks ago to see if that would make a difference and still no better.

can be easier to 'bench mark' with others if you add your average speed from the DIS ;)

This may be no help but recently put a thread on about my A4 petrols poor MPG and I was told to check my tyres,I havent finished finding out if its improved it but I have been getting about 60 mile to £20 which has dropped from 85-90 for £20 .I found the pressure was an embarassing 14 in the back and 20 in the front so I have inflated them and it seemed to have dramatically improved them back to what I was getting before ...just a thought

My 177 is around 14mpg worse in the cold weather. I do the same journey to work each day, 25 miles. In the summer I can reach work and the DIS says 61. Now that it is much colder I am lucky to see 46, same journey, same speed, same conditions, just colder. It was the same with my previous B8's. my colleague has an A4 2001 1.9 tdi with 146k on the clock and over the same distance he can get 57 in the cold weather.

The B8 TDI is not a very fuel efficient engine

Very similar numbers to me. DIS#2 shows 37mpg / 27 mph (never reset in 40k miles)

Too many urban / congested runs then!?
