View Full Version : Temperature gauge.
Temperature gauge goes up and down at times sometimes itstays at 90
For a few miles then drops to nothing and stays there but nowarning lights
Or tick over change, loss mode ect also no change to theheater temperature.
Any ideas ?

Fit a new coolant temperature sensor and if that does not work a new thermostat, both are cheap and easy to do. If these fail to cure it, you have my permission to panic...

I would say it is the coolant sensor. If It would be thermostat it would never go to 60 once it gets to 90. Try cleaning connector first.
connector was caked up and now working all ok.

Coolant temp sensor it's notorious for failing. Replace with the revised green temp sensor, genuine VAG CTS only, & not a cheap pattern part.

To a great extent you can ignore what the modern VAG coolant temperature sensors say, they are hopelessly inaccurate, I think intentionally to stop people fretting.
