Remote boot lock/unlock

2003 A4 Avant tdi.

I haven't had the car long. I used to be able to press the middle button on my remote fob and the boot would unlock. Now when I press it nothing happens. I can open it using the handle. It locks with the central locking.

Have I de-activated it somehow?

The key slot in the tailgate has to be in the right position or the Solonoid has broken.

Just had a look. It doesn't appear the remote button does anything whichever position I have the key, so I guess the solenoid is broken? Bit weird that it opens via the button on the boot itself though, would have thought it to be the same solenoid..?

I bet it's a pig to strip and replace..:aargh4:

Try pushing the button on the remote for a couple of secs.

It worked! Did fiddling with the key in the other position re-set it, or have I been a plonker and not been pressing it long enough anyway..although I had opened it using the remote a number of times previously.
