reverse lights

reverse lights dont work and its not the bulbs. I have a 20L alt petrol. I remember reading that it had a multi function switch. Is this true or is there a reverse light switch anywhere else. Also, car makes a wierd sound on start up, that lasts for about 3 secs. is this gonna be the hydraulic cam tensioner, or the alternator clutch? no probs from warm.

No idea regards start-up noise.
