Hi all

I took advantage of an offer one of the forum sponsors have on offer at the minute - Clean Mitts (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/member.php?186826-CleanMitts) and their Winter Package Protection (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?137627-Winter-Package-Protection) offer with Collinite 476s and Poorboys Wheel Sealant. Fast dispatch and fast delivery. Highly recommended.

The A3 has had the same treatment yesterday but ran out of daytime to take pics.

PS - the Panda isn't mine! ;)

With the cold temperatures and the gritters being out the car started off like

Not very nice!

My usual washing routine consists of:

Exterior:

- Spraying the alloy wheels with Bilberry Wheel Cleaner and agitating with a detailing brush

- Proceeded to wash the exterior using two bucket method and a Karcher powerhose. Washed with a wash mitt using TurtleWax ZipWax - no specific ratio, just poured it in to make it nice and bubbly

- Dried using a microfibre drying towel

Since it's coming into winter I also completed the below

- Clay - Meg's Smooth Surface kit with Megs Quick Detailer

- Polish - 2 coats of Autoglym SRP - 15 minutes between coats

- Wax - 2 coats of my newly acquired Collinite 476s - this is a paste wax, not the liquid wax were all use to. Just rub the supplied microfibre application pad over the wax. Very little is needed and as I found out - little is the new more. Apply a thin layer of wax to the car and let it cure until it's a light haze on the paintwork - buff off with the microfibre cloth CleanMitts also provided as part of the deal.

- Wheel sealant - Also courtesy of CleanMitts I also found that less is more with the PB. Apply a thin layer of the product to your alloy wheel and let it cure until there is a light haze on the wheel. Again, buff off using another microfibre cloth CleanMitts provided. The package recommends 2-3 coats so thats what I done.

- Tyres shined using a paintable tyre shine from a local motor factors

- Coat of RainX applied to exterior windows

- Total time - 3.5 hours

Excellent shine on the A6 there Chris. Collinite certainly is a wax where less is more, how have you found the sheeting now when it rains, water just runs straight off!

Thanks for the recommendation aswell.

Thanks mate - and I agree, definitely a thin layer is needed, no more no less.

It hasn't rained yet but I can't wait until it does until I see some lovely beading :approve:

Your offer was actually a late birthday present so it was definitely worth the wait! :D

Thanks again and highly recommended!

Nice work Chris, looking good. I gave the A6 a good wash on Saturday and picked up some clay bar. Will get the car clayed and waxed this weekend coming hopefully.

Looking good Chris. Still to do my car's winter prep. Done my wife's car though, used Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid for winter protection, so I've yet to guage what the hype us all about. Don't know what to use on my A6 yet, probably SN Hybrid too. Getting itchy to clean, but can't do anything until I'm back in the UK lol

Thanks guys - I'm going to try and get into this detailing fad and see what else I could use :D

Some poor quality, cold beading shots this morning. Note the hailstones on the windscreen.

Will get some better images when it rains again.

I love when the beads rush off the panels when you accelerate - seeing the bonnet becoming bone dry as the air going over the wax made me smile.
