Hello all

I've had some work done to my car in the past which includes a remap by Jabbasport from 150 to 196 bhp and 309 pound of torque, I also got the sachs clutch coilovers and milltek exhaust. I've been driving it like this for the last 3 years but feel now its time for another change so I will go back to Jabba for the hybrid turbo de-cat downpipe and map to suit these upgrades. After this I will expect to see between 215 - 225 bhp and between 360 - 380 pound of torque. Now I've never changed the brakes from standard and i'm thinking it would be crazy not to now I'm going further with upgrades, so I don't want to go the Brembo route i'ts too expensive, I was thinking something like some drilled and scored 312mm discs and someone advised me that the calipers form the annivesary edition mk4 golf were a good upgrade. I just thought I would ask you guys aswell so here I am and would greatly appreciate some advice.

My car is the mk 4 Golf gttdi 150bhp from standard
Cheers

I upgraded the front brakes on my 150 from 288mm to 312mm. I just used the standard VW discs. Grooved and drilled discs are worthwhile if you do track days, but on everyday road driving (Depending how you drive!) they dont really offer much of an advantage when you think about their extra cost and that they chew up the pads quicker!

You will need a set of bigger carriers (That carry the calipers) and a set of bigger dust sheilds (The thin metal plates behind the discs) and of course a set of bigger discs! The pads are just the same for the 288mm as for the 312mm. I use Greenstuf pads.

When I ordered my carriers (That VW/TPS have listed as 'calipers'!) I ordered the red ones as fitted to the Anniversary - I was going to paint them red anyway, but the red ones were a bit cheaper than the unpainted ones!

The carriers are a bit on the expensive side new (£200 ish for the set) so it may well be worth searching ebay!
