'02 A4 - Central Locking stopped working suddenly

Hi everyone,

this is my first post on here so hope I'm doing it right.

When we bought the car the remote central locking was working fine but the boot would only open with the key. Now the remote control doesnt unlock anything, we have to use the key in the drivers door to unlock and then turn the ignition on within 10 seconds to stop the alarm from going off. Turning the key in the ignition then unlocks all the other doors. I've searched other threads for previous advice and tried everything suggested but nothing is working. We're trying to avoid the cost of going to dealership, can anyone suggest any ideas please?

Obviously you checked the battery in the fob? After that you need to scan the car. Are the front carpets wet?

Hi Paul, the car is perfectly dry and the key fobs both have new batteries.

Ok mate you need to have a VCS scan, if you look on Chris the moderators profile at the bottom there's a list of members with VCDS. With the car scanned you should know if its a relay fuse or module
