Cant Open Rear Door

Hi All

Looking for some help. I have a 1999 Golf and I cant open the rear door from either the outside or the inside.

The Child locks have been enabled and when trying to open the door the other day the exterior handle has broken.

Is there a way of taking the interior trim off with the door still shut? Or is there another way of opening the door?

dont know if golf trim can be removed with door closed, its possible on some Skodas. It looks impossible on Audi A3 and Golf is probably the same.

Is the lock releasing with central locking. I.E. Buttton poping up.
If it unlocked it may be best to have a look at a similar model to see what broke in the outer handle and if it may be possible to try to hook it from the outside

Thanks for the reply, yeah the central locking works fine. It feels as though something has disconnected from the exterior handle. Will have a proper look this weekend, it doesnt look fun though :D
