So i have an A4 B5 1.8t quattro and the engine is on its last legs but the rest of the car is in good enough nik that i would like to hang on to it. i have done a few engine conversions before and i am toying with the idea of swapping it for a 2.7 biturbo. problems likely to encounter.

Drive train, can i leave the old drive train and gearbox and simply bolt them together or do i need to take the entire running gear,
ecu clocks and wiring i will get along with the engine and will swap outright.
space, as far as i can tell the underbonet space and shape is the same in a biturb as a 1.8t
radiator and pipes i will try to get with the engine as ideally i would buy the front end of the car with everything in a state of running to swap over.

I have looked to see if i could find anyone who has done this before but no luck with this particular model and conversion. i wonder what any one who has done a similar conversion or who knows the 2.7 block thinks about my idea for a project.

or should i just rebuild my 1.8t with a garret T28 or simillar and spend the money squeezing power from that?

thanks in advance for the help and thoughts

Rebuild your 1.8. The cost of acquiring a v6, installing it, improving it which you no doubt will want to, getting it in and correct with allllllllllllllllllllllll the niggly little bits specific to it would be redicurrus. Or just buy an s4?
