Hi
I own a 1999 B5 A4 Avant 1.8t FWD engine mods Chipped,Forge dump valve and Remus exhaust I have been looking into replacing the clutch and going for a CG motorsports SMF and 6 paddle conversion is this the best way to go or is there a better option im concerned about chatter and a rougher pick up.

or would it be better to keep the dmf and look at a S4 clutch kit

Any info or advice would be great

Try doing a search for solid flywheel conversion/dmf/dual mass flywheel or similar. There are a few threads on the conversion to a single solid unit, some say they know of cars that have had the conversion and have had no problems, others say they've seen major problems as a result (one post just today about a broken crank shaft from having it done for example).

S4 clutch won't fit as it's larger and the DMF has different bolt pattern. You can use the early 1.9 Tdi or 2.0 petrol single mass flywheel and s2 clutch but it will need machining to fit the single mass flywheel. That would let you use the 240mm clutch which can hold more torque than the 228mm one. I would be very wary of paddle clutches, they are a biatch to drive- either on or off. I have a TTV single mass flywheel made of CrMoli steel and Southbend OFE stage 3 clutch for a rs4. The clutch is modded to fit the flywheel and the flywheel is a rs4 spec drilled to fit the 1.8T/1.9 Tdi crank. No slip at all- running over 200 Bhp on the engine but it's easy to stall the engine and i have crazy flywheel chatter. The clutch was specced for a strocked 1.8TQS audi a4 with a 2.0L crank and is good for over 600Nm and 500 Bhp. The linings are organic on pressure plate side and ferametallic on the flywheel side. No slip whatsoever even if i drop the clutch at 4000 rpm's ! Here's a few pictures:
