My A4 has a misfire, well thats the best way to explain it on a diesal anyway.
But it is very specific, it only happens at 1400 rpm mostly when the car is hot but just recentley it has been doing it from cold as well.
i have recently changed the fuel filter and air filter, and also cleaned the maf sensor, but although as you would expect it has settled the car down a bit "ie smoother" the problem still persists.

Hi, is the car very smoky when it's misfiring? Did you scan for fault codes? You really need to plug it into VCDS before you replace anything else. also check all your vacuum lines and the connections

thanks for the reply paul, i had a local guy put his code reader on it, but no codes found.
as you say i do need to have it looked at with VAG but i thought i might just ask the question first.
ive have looked over the vacume pipes, the bad pipes ive replaced and all the actuaters seem to be pulling ok and the turbo spools and boosts.
No sign ok smoke i dont think, but i will check again.
By the way, this problem only happens when i drive the car, it doesnt do the same just reving it.

contrary to what some mechanics think ordinary obd scanners can miss stuff on a VAG car
Ross-Tech: VCDS: DTC Comparison (http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/dtc-comparison.html)
loads of guys on here will scan you for little or nothing, at the risk of sounding perverse i love the ajm a afn engines!
good luck

Not one bit, you have to show love for your car/s, engine etc. or it/they will end up in the scrap yard!!! ;)

Before the 1Z tdi engine, diesels were for tractors. Sluggish toyotas, dead peugeots and walking pace fords.
