View Full Version : Question Climate Control Blows Very Hot Air Then Returns to Normal after Time

Hello,
When the car has warmed up (Engine @ 90 degrees) the climate control set to 22 degrees blows very hot air and keeps doing this for an extended time before it finally realises the interior of the car is too warm and starts to blow the air as set by the temp setting of 22 degrees.

This has only just started doing this. It gets so uncomfortably warm in the car you have to open the windows, once the car has been ruuning for 10 minutes or so the climate control temp setting seems to kick in and you feel it blowing cooler air to keep the car at the correct set temp from then on. Although I have noticed in the last few weeks that my normal temp setting of 22 degrees seems a bit cooler than it used to be and have to sometimes set to 23 degrees to feel comfortable??

It seems as if a climate temp sensor is not picking up the internal temp of the car quick enough or correctly and just keeps blowing the hot air until it finally realises the internal temp is too hot.
Is their an internal temp sensor that I could check or replace. I think the flap motors are ok because the car blows the correct temp setting after a while.
Any advice gratefully received, thank you.

The small grille on the climate controls is the temp sensor, try cleaning with a small brush and vacuum

....If only I was as smart as this bloody phone

Hi Thanks for your reply. I have to admit I was aware the sensor was sited behind the grill, but did not think the problem was caused by dust build up as it looks fairly clear.
However, I have just brushed and vacumed the area in the hope it solves the problem. Thanks again.

Most likely you've got a sticking flap motor, you could get a scan done or try it on manual and swing it from cold to hot and vice versa,is it hotter on one side or all over?

Hi Nevo, Thanks for your reply. A faulty flap motor will show up on VCDS will it? Ok I will scan it to check if anything shows. Thank you again
