There's a 15mm (ish)bolt on the center of the tensioner pulley it's left hand thread just turn it as if to tighten it and it will release the tension enough to remove the belt. you don't need to remove the tensioner to change the belt

All wires connected? Did you time it properly?

didn't have to disconnect any wiring, timing marks lined up as per instructions with belt kit - notch on crankshaft pulley in line with zero on lower timing belt cover and cam sprockets locked via pins into head - according to instructions the engine is now at TDC for No1 piston

Did you crank it over with the plugs out and the coil packs plugged in?

Is there fuel getting to it? How did you check for a spark? do you have access to a scanner?

Did you disturb the cam sensor? It has to be something that was moved or disturbed in some way when the tb was done

Yes I took this out on advice, cleaned it off and replaced it, but can't think of removing/disturbing any other sensors/electrical bits

A scan for fault codes would be helpful is there any way you could get one. Is the immobilizer light on?

Specifically, did you crank the engine over with the coil packs removed from the plugs but still connected to the wiring?

No everything was connected and in place when I cranked engine over(performed rotation by hand before using ignition key)

How did you prevent the engine starting during the cranking test?

I cranked it by hand off the crankshaft pulley when i had conmpleted the work on the car to make sure all spun freely before actually trying to start the car off the ignition key

Post any fault codes that show up, usually after changing the timing belt you just drive off..

I get the feeling you have four failed coil packs.
