Hi
This just happened. Dash instruments were acting crazy then just died. The immobiliser, handbrake etc lights work but speedometer, revs, fuel and temp are gone.
Any ideas what to do?

Could be as simply as a loose connection. It's getting intermittent power. You can access the dash like this: Kris' Audi Page :: Technical Articles (http://audi.kris-hansen.com/cluster_bulbs.htm)

It was getting intermittent power alright but now its just dead. Ill give it a go with the cables but the way it was happening id say theres a strong chance its faulty. It would flicker for about 10 minutes then come one rather than maybe come on when i went over a bump or anything.
It was like clockwork in the way theres a roundabout about a mile from the house on the way to work. When i start the car and get about that far it comes back on. Then one day it just froze and is now dead.
Also it shows no fault on VagCom.

Right just took the clocks out and reseated the two ribbon cable connections at the back. Works 100%.
Two T20 screws and then just lift the dash out. Reseat connection. Very simple to do.
Maybe its steam or something causing problem with connections as ive never been anywhere near it and there is a plastic clamp holding the connection in anyway. It cant just fall out by itself really.
