please help

ok, i bought a high level brake light for my golf mk3. To fit it you need to connect it to the existing brake light. But, what i can't figure out is which wire is for the brake lights. Anyone have any ideas as to what colour it is?

I've got the Haynes service and repair manual but it's not really much use for this, as all the wire colourings are different in the book to what's in my car.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section by the way. It's my first time on the forum :)

Red with a black tracer.Check voltage at the rear ligth bulb holder connection when the brake is applied and this will confirm the correct wire,then locate the earth and splice into the circuit
