Hi, I would like to change the oil in my A4 2.5 tdi sport cabriolet. It is currently on long life oil but I have heard that Longlife oil is not all its cracked up to be and would like to change mine as it only gets used in the summer. T he selection seems to be a bit of a mine field.
Please can anyone advise me.
Thanks

You can still use the same oil but change it every 12-15K miles as I do and get the ECU setting changed to fixed intervals.
I use Fuchs Titan GT1 longlife 3 5W-30 fully synthetic in the avant. Mainly because I can get this in 20litre barrels for £60 :)
Have you tried the opie oils website. Oils, lubricants, fuel treatments, spark / glow plugs and much more for your car (http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-337-cars.aspx)

Agree with the above, reduce the frequency but keep the type and grade, mine is done yearly or every 10k miles and is driven very hard, no problems so far

I tend to think the long life servicing schedule is the real problem? The long life oils are probably very very good as oils go...
