I finally got the cover off in the boot (broken latch) and found the sub underneath, put the stereo on and I cannot feel or hear that it is doing anything. Is it a simple case of checking fuses etc or will it be yet another failure in my car? And need a replacement, if so how easy a job is it and can I upgrade to the Bose at the same time (assuming nothing else is needed)! I did flash my rnse and that has. Abused me to lose mw signal could the sub also be problem caused by my dodgy flash. I know I need vag.com to unlock it again and flash it back....

Bose is more than just speakers - you need a new amp, speakers, wiring, dash speaker and amp, microphones etc.
You may find that your subwoofer is actually an amp.

Is it? It has a grill on it and a port like a sub, but does have a big plug at the top with a load of wires going into it, Bose sounds like a mission so will swerve that one.

No problem - it could well be a sub but there is an electronic one in my C6 so just incase I'm thinking of something else.

I've got a pic on my iPad but don't know how to post it and the thing in my boot is the same as Audi A6 BASS SPEAKER SUBWOOFER 4B9035382 ASK | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A6-BASS-SPEAKER-SUBWOOFER-4B9035382-ASK-/271032464262?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3f1acb3386#ht_500wt_689) so I would assume its a sub.....Ive also updated my original post as I'm not sure if the sat nav flash has cocked it up
