Hi,
I'm sick of listening to glib mundane xfactor dross played on the radio and my single disk headunit ain't cutting it so I thought I could do with an upgrade...
My mates golf has an indash changer and I liked the look of it and the fact I don't have to go out into the boot to add remove CD's. In a moment of short term thinking I bought a second hand one off of EBay. I had seen cables on ebay for connecting the changer to headunits but read in some forums that the alana doesn't have an earth for the changer and i have to rig up an earth for it is this the case?

Err I popped the head unit out for a peak at the connections and put it back in so of course the code came up - I'm sure I know the code and I'm sure I can remember doing this in the past when my alternator was rebuilt. I put the code in but it's just sitting there, is there something else I need to do? Can I connect though the cars diagnostic port to double check the code?

Got it! I needed to hold down the RDS and Scan button until the radio comes back on...

Got a cable off of ebay with the "Blue" aux plug at one end and the CD changer plug at the other - all the wires except one go from the CD changer end to the blue plug but one doesn't (all the blue plugs slots are wired)
Does anyone out there have a wiring diagram / info for the pins on the CD changer? So I can figure out if it is to be earthed? I don't want to assume it is and fry my changer

I "Earthed" the single wire to my radio case and gave it a go - everything works fine except that at night none of the buttons on the CD changer light up - only the lights above the disk buttons to let you know there is a disk in the slot....
I guess I know what the "spare" cable was now - does anyone has a diagram for the ports on the back of the SEAT Alana radio and or the CD changer? I want to:
1. Make sure the "spare" wire is as I suspect for turning on the CD units lights at night.
2. Find out if there is a feed coming from the Radio to allow me to hook it up, or a feed that tells the radio the lights are on that I can connect to with a Scotch clip.
