seat alhambra 1.9 tdi manual 1997, no power in low gears 1st is terrible and black smoke when accelerating (thick black smoke when accelerating hard) its the 90 bhp model, can anyone offer words of wisdom??

have it checked for fault codes, if you do not get anything relevant such as 00550, replace the Air Mass Meter with a new genuine VW dealer supplied exchange part bought only from a VW dealer, nowhere else.

Check all pipes are connected on intercooler and if they r check for splits I had bottom one go and had all your problems listen for a loud woooshing noise when you put power on it will confirm that air is escaping and all the mixture will be to ****.
