Installing factory Bluetooth and AMI for iPod / iphone

Hi guys, recently purchased a 58 Audi a4 sline. Came with the mmi system with colour Satnav.

What I'm looking to do is have a factory fit Bluetooth and iPod integrated into the Audi mminsystem as you would get from factory.

So far I figured that I have the MMI 2g system. So....

1. Do i need a new glove box for the ami system as it looks like I don't have the compartment/upper shelf for where the iPhone or iPod goes. If so any part numbers available ??

2. does anyone know of an independent fitter who could take this challenge on?

You can modify your existing glovebox by cutting out the rear of one of the shelves but I cant remember what a A4 blovebox looks like so not 100% sure on that but its possible on the A6 4F.

Its easy to fit as is the bluetooth - are you sure you have 2G?

Remind me again how you identify whether it is 2g or 3g ?..

Could you take a pic as there is some differences between the A4 and A6 layout.

'58 is the crossover to 3G so thats why I need a pic.

I've definitely got 2g as I don't have that extra joystick ontop of my rotating mmi controller. And the Satnav is not in 3d, it's just standard definition 2d mapping. Is that how you would have identified it ??

The 3G DVD system doesn't have a joystick and can provide 2D maps.

Could you take a picture of the screen when you press RADIO and CAR?

The different font is easy to spot.

Chris, is there such thing as 2g High and 2g low?? If so how do you know?

You have MMI 2g high - mmi 2g low (basic) has a non colour central screen.

Is it quite straight forward to install the Bluetooth and ami system. I've got some quotes and people are charging over £400 for each item.

Parts for both would be around £200-250 each so where they're getting the labour charges from I dont know as it certainly doesn't take long.

Thank you For the insight chris. Just one last thing, I remember when purchasing the car the salemans said that this was the executive model and that it had the navigation "plus" system in. So does the system have something extra that I don't know about or is it just a marketing tool.

Those would do but you can get the Audi oem bluetooth for cheaper than the fiscon units.

I will post a link later on tonight for you to have a look.
