i have a 1999 Ibiza mk2 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004B3SIJ2/) 2 days ago it stopped running Rac man said it was coil as there was no spark.So replaced coil still no spark power coming to coil only thing i have not changed now is dizi cap and rotor can anyone shed any light on this for me as it is doing my head in and i rely need my car for work

More likely to be the hall sender inside the distributor, it would help if we knew your cars engine code.

You will have one of two distributors, a Bosch 030 905 205 AB or Marelli 030 905 205 AE but from genuine these are now one part number, 030 906 237 GX which is around £85 from a Seat dealer. If you have a Bosch distributor you can fit a new hall sender 030 905 065 B for around £75 but they are available from GSF under their part number 923VG0180 for a lot less. They also list the distributor but it is £4 more than genuine and then 20% VAT on top! The Bosch part number is 0 237 521 061.

have fitted new dizi and rotor still no spark one thing a seat mechanic pointed out to me was that there was a lot of water round the ECU so i have removed this and now have it inside drying hope this sorts it if not i think it maybe on the way to the scrap yard is there away of testing the hall sender

Yes, test the two outer terminals of the plug for ignition on power and then check the output from the centre wire with an oscilloscope to see if there is a square wave output.
