Hi Everyone. I am new to this forum so be gentle please.I own an A4 b5 1.8 which my better half uses (i am a landrover man myself). Recently whenever you come to idle it is erratic for 10 to 20 seconds then steadies.Recently replaced spark plugs and air filter but no difference.Checked all pipes and wiring connection i can see all looks ok.I am thinking a dodgy sensor somewhere but not sure where to start (ECU whats that about the only electronic thing in my disco is the clock ).Any pointers gratefully received. Cheers

Have the throttle body cleaned properly.

Mine does exactly that... And it is a nightmare at traffic lights.
I had a diag run on it( for £30 quid) and it appears that the mass airflow sensor and the coolant temparature sensor were playing up.
So, it may be worth you getting the guys in the garage to run the diag also.

By the way.... I knew the guy from the garage who did the diag, and he did say to me before he ran the diag - get the throttle body cleaned!
I tried to do it myself and I found it to be awkward because all the pipes seemed to have 'throwaway' jubilee clips off sorts.

Hope this was of some use.
