Hi Guys
I'm thinking of changing my B7 S line 2.0 for new shape B8; having had the famous BRE engine issues with oil pump shaft failure, are there any gremlins left to sirt with the B8's?!??!
Any advice would be apprecated!!:D

I'm confused, I thought the BRE engine was the okay engine, I had a B7 Avant with this engine with no issues at all I thought it was BLB/BNE engine that had problems. Anyway, I went from the B7 2.0 tdi to the B8 andf never looked back. The B8 ticks all of the boxes that the B7 doesn't in terms of engine smoothness quietness and interior space in the back. The ride and handling is also noticeably better and the servotronic steering is great.

Great cars and no real Probs, couldn't recommend 'em enough.

Mines for sale..z.zzzz. Sorry guys couldn't resist it.

Coming from a B7 which is indeed a great car, the B8 is in a different league and noticeably better in every department. I wish I could have said the same for the C7 A6 when I drove it...

Hi there, thanks for all the advice, it sounds like the B8 is definitely an improvement on the B7. I will step the search up a gear or two to see whats around!!
John140 - I think there was about 6 or 8 engine codes that were effected with the balance shaft issue, i know there's plenty of threads on here about it and typically I would have one that failed!

Perhaps it is overall, but I have personally never owned such a problematic and unreliable vehicle as this B8...... from any other mainstream or prestige manufacturer....ever! It's quality is just shocking.

I had a B6 (2004) cabriolet before which was absolute pleasure to own. This B8 doesn't come anywhere close to the B6, except the TDI CR engine of course, which is a huge leap forward. I wish I never changed, but family expansion and all that!

Anyway, good luck with yours and enjoy! If you get a good one, you will love it.

*****UPDATE*****

I've finally gone for it and bought a 2011 2.0 tdi S Line Black Edition in Phantom Black, full black leather, etc etc. Well happy with it, huge improvement on the old B7, so much smoother to drive.

What’s an Upgarde, an Italian version ?
