Upon reconnecting my battery after cleaning out the water drainage hole underneath the battery bracket, I have been unable to get the trip display to work, according on the old A4 hand book, this will happen, but the book is not very clear on firing it back up, the advice appears to be putting the key inthe ignition and leaving in position one for 5 seconds.
I have counted these seconds off at various speeds, lol, but nothing. Dont really want to start taking the dash apart to check the ribbon cable just yet as the LED was fine prior to disconnecting the battery.

One other thing is that the radio retained it's memory and I didin't have to use the code, battery was disconnected for about 20 mins, doubt this is connected.

Will advise on progress

yep this is proving a bit more trickey than first thought as the issues with the trip comp happend after I disconnected the battery, so I may have to remove the central display to investigate further, this will have to wait for a couple of weeks or so until I get some spare time. On the plus side changed out the aircon unit and it works a treat blowing out lovely cold air, now just looking forward to some hot weather to justify having Aircon working again.

Have you tried removing and replacing fuse no. 15 instrument cluster. Worked for me.
