Hello all, well Im approaching 190,000 on my 1998 2.5 tdi v6 AFB...the one with the poor cams :( But she hasn't done bad, A little noisy on start up but once the Hydraulic lifters are at temp shes fine, A couple of cams are starting to show the wear and all the followers are still in place! still doing the weekly 400+ miles and sailed through the last MOT...

So im going to fit all new Cams, followers, lifters ect (kolbenschmidt) Now do I need to think about valves??? or are these safe to leave alone?

All cam belts, servicing has been strictly carried out even before it was due, never lost water, oil and doesn't smoke heavy when pushed, and starts on the first turn..... Just want to keep this old skool V6 diesel going! so dont mind the small fortune its going to cost.

What do you think?

I open up regularly these v6 engines and i would say leave the valves alone ! The stem seals get a little dry and might let a little oil seep trough but they are tough like old boots these cars and built properly. Just make sure the kit you're using has the right valve spacers and buy new camshaft seals as well.
