Hi,

I am currently specing a new diesel B8 and I have a couple of questions on what extras are recommended (please not Portuguese config options might differ from the UK or elsewhere):

Damper control - Is it worth it over the "normal" Drive Select options? I was inclined towards it but there are a couple of snags: it adds 1,300 euro to the price (roughly 1.1K) and it "blocks out" the TDIe versions (not an option, according to the VAG distributor)

ACC - Although it sounds fine in theory, motorway driving in Portugal can be tricky (i.e. "safety distance" turns rapidly to "unsafety distance" when someone pulls in front of you - so you tend to drive close to the car in front of you) and it also costs a fair bit (1,500 euro).

Alarm - Is it good enough or am I better off installing an after-market one?

Adaptive Light - I am a bit confused here, as the Xenon lights already have some kind of automatic dynamic control. Does this (just) add cornering?

3-zone AC vs "automatic AC" - I don't care for multizone (my wife's car has it and the temp is set equal on all zones, always) but are the extra "functions" (such as anti-fogging) worth the extra (700 euro) cost?

Finally and if I select an "Exclusive pack" vs a normal configuration, I can get the lighting package and Milano leather seats for an extra 400 euros. Worth it?

Thanks all!

Hi,

Your packs and the UK packs are quite different so it's hard to comment.

Dynamic suspension - I love it. I had an S-line (Sports Suspension) before and it was once of the best changes I made. It means we have two cars in one which suits my wife and I and how we use it. It also means I can have 19" wheels and lowered ride height (same as Sports Suspension - 20mm lower than standard) but without the hardness if I want it on Comfort.

ACC - dunno didn't go for it. I prefer driving.

Dynamic - I believe all Xenons rise and fall as you suggest. It's the cornering where it pays for itself ... but it depends on where you live, street lighting, bends etc on if it's worth it.

Alarm - **** poor but if you're worried then you fit a tracker not an alarm.

3 zone/auto - in the UK now you can only get 3 zone. Works for us - wife, myself and kids in the rear

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I am aware that packs are different, that's why I presented costs to avoid discussing packs / lines.

By dynamic suspension you mean the damper control, correct? Audi muddled definitions, so, according to them, dynamic suspension is standard (and can come also as Sport or S-Line), while damper control is optional.

Also, is Milano leather better / more comfortable than the standard textile material?

(Edit: There are reports that Audi leather seats are prone to sagging in a short time, so I guess Milano leather is not an option to get)

Thanks again.
