Hi. My 2002 V6 4motion started this morning but would not rev. I parked it back up and got a code reader.
When I went to restart it it was spinning over on the starter but would not fire. I took off the engine cover but could not see anything obvious so tried again.
This time it fired up first time and is revving perfectly but the eml is on.
Codes are -
17925 P1517 (008) Power supply relay for ecu (J271 or J363) electrical malfunction
17457 P1049 (002) Bank 1 Exhaust cam adjust valve 1 short to ground (N318)
17935 P1527 (002) Camshaft timing adjust Bank 1 short to ground (N205)
17923 P1515 (002) Intake manifold valve short to ground (N156)
All the codes were intermittant and all erased. The engine is running ok now.

Any ideas please and where can I get a wiring diagram?

Crasher, I found an old post where you suggested fuel pump relay? Would that cause more fault codes it was that? The alternator is charging ok and new battery 3 months ago (plenty of power)

The six coil packs, J271, N318, N205, N156 and J220 engine ECU are all powered by the same circuit which is itself powered by J271 (relay 428 in the engine bay relay box next to the left strut) so I suggest you start by replacing the relay, VW part number 1J0 906 381 B, about £18.

Thanks Crasher.
I took the relay cover off, jammed the points open and tried to start it. Exactly the same faults were set so I have cleaned the points as a temp measure and ordered a new one.
Can you please supply me with a wiring diagram so I can understand the circuits?

Thanks Crasher.
2 weeks now with new relay and appears to be ok.
