rough idle

Hi all, the last couple of days the car has been a bit rough on idle for the first 10 seconds say after start up.

It is mainly when leaving work, engine cold, outside temp 16/17 degrees centigrade. It does sometimes do it in the morning but its worse afterwork.

Start up and the revs will drop to say 800 then bounce up to 1000 as if i'm blipping the throttle.


Any ideas of anything it could be before a computer is needed?

Hi,

To be honest, a scan would save you a lot of time.

Be sure to get a print out and post what you do get.

Although a simple fuel filter change as a matter of course is always a cost effective and simple procedure to do before getting too involved.

Try the above and post again with more info and hopefully some codes if no improvement.

Thanks for the replies, checked the fuel filter which is black and the fuel looked like it had a few oil like drops floating in the top! So I shall change the filter and see if that helps, I think I do need the software update as mine does feel like it misfires at a certain rpm in 1st when it's on the warm up in warm ish weather
