2.6 ABC breathing problems

At start up the air intake makes a racket, and sounds like it's pulling way too much air through. It then starts spluttering and trying to die. What would cause this Audi Guru's?!

I guess it could be a vacuum leak? Try spraying easy start around the area, if there is a leak the revs will rise as the spray is drawn in and burnt.
