Following on from another thread just wondering who uses wheel spacers?
I know about the arguments on wheel bearing loadings etc. but just wondering who actually uses them and if so where I'd you purchase from etc and any feedback and Photo's.
I do want the more aggressive stance on my car but want to keep OEM wheels.
Many thanks

As someone said in the other thread, they had problems with 10mm spacers. Anything between 5mm and 15mm means the wheel won't locate on the hub and this causes wheel inballance.
Otherwise you shouldn't have any issues!

Hi there, I am currently using Hubcentric wheel spacers on my wifes Passat. The key is that they are Hubcentric for which you will pay more, a lot more but I wouldn't dream of using the cheap flat spacers at £10 a set.........ever!!
I wanted to fit my Audi A6 TT trapeze style 17" alloys i place of the std 15" rims on the Passat, but they sat too close to the caliper etc. I found a really good set of quality hubcentrics 15mm spacers c/w the longer bolts ( You MUST get the longer bolts for safety ) and they fitted like a dream. I can report I've had zero issues and the stance looks amazing, like it always should have been IMO..............I posted pics into your other thread I believe.
IIRC the set of 4 c/w the bolts set me back around £120 possibly more but a really worthwhile investment IMO and I'm happy as Larry.
HUBCENTRIC is what you need...............I'm sure you probably already know this, if not , please do a search and you'll see what I mean!!
Good luck

Even a hub centric spacer between 5 and 15mm will cause vibrations. The 15mm or bigger spacers come with an extended hub centre for the wheel to locate on. Bolt on spacers can be just as strong and if your going more than 20mm I would recommend them.

Have to be honest and say I've never experienced any vibration in the year or so the wheels have been on the Passat with the hubcentric wheel spacers!
I have read countless times where more simple / cheap bolt on non hubcentric wheel spacers have led to "wheel wobble" as there is no Hub area for the wheel, its only the bolts holding it in place and centrifrugal force does its thing, but each to their own.

Yours are 15mm, so the extra hub extention is there.

Trouble i had was from memory i was told to get 10mm a side front and 15mm a side on the back so the front were not hub centric, and also purchased Eibach, so the quality was pretty good.
Think i will try and source maybe 12mm a side hubcentrics for back and front with longer bolts.
Thanks for responses all.

What are the wheel and tyre specs you'll be spacing anyway? For the sake of 3mm you may as well get 15mm

The wheels are 5 spoke VW wheels similar to the Audi RS4/RS6 wheels, tyres without going out and looking are 235/45/17 with wheel ET43.
I need to learn how to upload photo's....:(
