Audi A4 B8 iPod/MMI/Bluetooth Question

Evening all, newbie round here so please be nice!

I've recently purchased a used A4 B8 2009 2.0 TDI and I've got a couple of questions which I am sure have been asked before but here goes!

I've got the audi satellite navigation system, it's got an Aux input in the arm-rest but that seems to be the only input available? There seems to be an amp and DVD (for the navigation) in the boot.

1) How do I know which version I have of the system? I think it's an MMI?
2) Is there anyway to connect an iPod dock lead to my system?
3) Should I have bluetooth installed as standard? A nokia kit has been installed which won't work with my iPhone but when I go on to phone button it has a message like phone not installed, I'm wondering if the Nokia kit is blocking this?
4) Should I/Can I update the media system and Sat Nav Maps?
5) Can I play DVDs on the system?

Again, apologies if this has been asked before but everything is a bit new to me at the moment!

Hi,

You could have either MMI 2G (high) or MMI 3G (low) - your car is from around the switchover point. If you go to the CAR menu and select Version Information, you should find the software version of the MMI and your nav maps - if you can post them up, we should be able to tell whether you have 2G or 3G.

It may be possible to retrofit Audi Music Interface (AMI) to your car - forum members like A8 Tech can advise and even undertake this for you.

If your car doesn't have standard Bluetooth, this can usually be retrofitted too, again see A8 Tech for details.

Depending whether you have MMI 2G or 3G, updates may be available, but I believe 3G updates are a dealer-only option as they have to be registered/unlocked with the central server in Germany. If you have 2G you can get the latest discs and do this yourself.

Unless you have MMI 3G High with hard-disc based navigation, you cannot play DVDs.

I've got a Parrot MKI9200 from my old car, which has iPod, SD, USB etc connections in, do you think it would be worth adding this or getting the audi system up and running?

You have MMI 2G going by your software version of 5570 in the first line.

Not sure if the Parrot system will be compatible - OEM is the neatest and best way IMO.

Now that we know you have MMI2G I can answer these a bit better

1)MMI 2G
2)Audi AMI (oem)
3)Not standard, can be added cheaply and easily - Fiscon or Audi OEM.
4)You have higest version of FW. Maps can be updated easily
5)Not with MMI2G unfortunately
