i have purchased a 97 P reg Audi A4 tdi 90bhp,it is immaculate condition in and out apart from one dent in the nsf wing,still has the original cassette player in it !!!!
It has covered 113,000 from new and this is backed up by the mot`s and service history and has only be covering 5k some years !!!!!!!
The only problem it has is it isn`t accelerating as it should all the time,i think it has been driven very gently and barely giving the turbo a work out ,could the egr valve be clogged and the inlets full of sludge????

Most probably clogged up. The cat could be full of crap too. Could be a split vaccum hose or a clogged fuel filter, I changed my fuel filter as soon as I got my 1.9tdi and it improved greatly.

Ensure that the oil is good and relatively new before you do the following.

Get a redex or another injector cleaner, that the fuel filter off, dump the whole fuel cleaner in it pop it back on and fire it up. Take it for a hard drive and hold it just before redline in third for a few miles. It will most likely smoke like a bitch!

The basic idea is to over heat the internals of the engine and burn all the crap out.

just noticed the heat shield above the egr valve is broken and has been rubbing the material part of the vacuum pipe.also noticed oil on the outside of the inlet manifold.......
