For some reason the front O/S side light has started coming on with the brake lights on our 2003 130PDTDI estate?

No issues with the brake lights or any other lights, no idicators flikering etc like you get with a bad earth.

brakes lights and side lights all work fine and dont appear to influence each other when side lights are actually switched on.

Anyone come across this before or is it just a freek dodgy loom issue?

change the rear brake light bulb and see if that makes a difference.

Cheers!
........Yep it worked.

Bulb coil looked a bit knackd but maybe colapsed in on it's self so still working.

It seems like a pretty strange way for vw to tell you your brake lights arn't as they should be, putting the side light on.

Is this a freek outcome or by design?

its just a freak occurance that sometimes happens with a bulb with 2 filaments. when power goes to the brakes it can then power up the sidelight circuit via the broken filament. not a design feature though, just a freakish thing. glad i was right though :)
