immobiliser problem

audi coupe 1994 2.0 16v ace. ok, so a problem occured and it refused to crank. various things checked and fault in fuse box. when fuse 19 (?) is removed, the one for the central locking, it starts, but the central locking obviously stops working, but it starts. so, does anyone know how to solve this. is the immobiliser integral with the fuse box as there doesn't appear to be a relay plugged in that does it. i presume its a dry joint somewhere like most coupe faults are, but what a pain to remove the fuse box to find it . any help appreciated.

From what I've read, the factory immobiliser is part of the central locking pump. The failure you have is not uncommon and a replacement pump unit should cure it.
