Hi im nes to the forume so firstly would like to say hello to every one :D
Im having problems with my 1.6 16v golf. It wont start and when it does it cuts out pretty much straight away unles you try rev it in which case you get one strong rev loads and loads of smoke and then cuts out again. i did a compression test and my results came back #1) 195 #2) 230 #3) 150 #4) 210 im unsure of the cylinder order so im listing #1) as cambelt end and #4) as gearbox end. i was also getting codes come up for map sensor but i checked wiring and pin data and all was fine so replaced the sensor but still no change. please please please can somebody help

welcome to the forum. it would help to know what year your golf is and the engine code which can be found either on the timing belt cover or the sticker under the carpet in the boot or in the service book. it will be 3 letters.
often a car starting and cutting out immediately is down to the immobiliser though.

Oh yeah sorry about that, its a 2001 and the engine code is aus i really cant see it being imob related as it smokes its **** off like a white grey smoke with a hint of blue but does smell very fuely and a lil oily. got no fault codes coming up apart for things like windows and interior light :s
