Having read thru some previous posts regarding the fitting of a CD changer I'd like to ask a couple of questions to all the cleverer than me people on the board :)

Is It possible to fit any changer and is it a generic connection into the back of the factory fitted Tape/radio head unit?

If not does anyone have the part number for a cable? Halfords quoted me 50 big ones!! seemed a bit dear!

Also is there a mounting kit available, the car is a mk4 Golf 03 plate V5 2.3, and does anyone have this part number available ?

My head unit has a button on it for the cd changer so im hoping it wont be too much hassle, dont wanna pay the big money an auto electritian or a garage would charge!!

Also whats the quality like throu the existing head unit ?
Am i better just buying a MP3 player and replacing the one that i have?

Just had the car a few days, wow wot a sound it makes !! Love it already !

This is also my first post, forgive me if i have rambled on !! lol

Thanks for your help in advance,

Chris.

Did you sort out this problem. Only I have a similar problem but I do have a small plastic plug in the boot with two wires attached, one brown, one red. I too want to know how to connect the original cassess radio to a 6 cd changer unit in the boot. Any advice or help you can give would be most welcome. Thank you. Julie

Hi all, just thought i would throw this one in! When i bought my Bora it was fitted with the old radio cassette thing but had the mutli-changer leads ready for fitment into the boot. I priced up a new multi-changer from VW (im sure it was £300+!!).

After that i thought no way and purchased a Sony MP3 compatible head unit which was great as it matched the VW dials with it's blue display and red lighting. It was also quite cheap, plus i now have 3 MP3 CD's in my car full of all my music.

I can really recommend it. Hope that helps.
