Discovered my Aircon is not cold following the recent spell of warm weather. I have been reliably informed that the Aircon may need a ReGas and Audi allow only one per warranty. Was also advised that this is usually required every 2-years if like me you leave the car permanently on Auto with the AC active. Has anyone needed to have it done - car is a 59 plate with just under 1,000 hours driving time (haven't reset this feature on the D.I.S. so far)?

Interesting. I havent needed mine doing yet...normally you get it done once every two years or so. You don't have to get audi to do it though..most garages can do it. Did they pay for it under warranty ok? or did you have to hasstle them? I only ask because they might do the same to me..and Im not paying if I can get it for free...

I had to have a replacement 'pressure switch' when mine did this. (I believe it is a fairly common fault and may be in the forum elsewhere).
Then the aircon system was serviced and regassed for about £99.

Its probably the pressure switch. There's no reason why you should need a re-gas every two years (unless there is a problem) and, in fact, regular use helps keep the system in good condition. The Mrs recently got rid of her old banger, which was a 12 year old Renault Megane, and the air con on that was still freezing even though it never had a re-gas as far as we know. If Audi can't do better than that there is something seriously wrong.

This is odd, I have never needed a re-gas on any any aircon fitted car I have ever had, including a Ford Focus which we had for 6 1/2 years from nearly new and still had strong aircon.

Faulty pressure switch replaced under warranty - appears to be working fine now!
