Hi All,

Haven't managed to find an answer to this so far. Maybe you guys can help me out. :o)

I have a number of MP3s loaded onto an SD card. The bit rate, file format and max number of files thresholds are all within limits.

However, when I try to play some files, they are jus skipped by the MMI and won'r play. No error, then they appear grey on the screen.

Any idea? The files play fine elsewhere.

Cheers

You could try running them all through an mp3 tag editor, and clean and re-write all the tags.

Are you sure they are mp3's ? I have a similar problem when using a Mac to put music on to SD cards

Are there any odd characters such as commas or hyphens in the filenames?

Yep definitely all MP3s, and no strange characters. Even in some albums some songs play, others dont. I'll do some more research - it's been mentioned the MP3 tags may have a part to play.....

Hi All,

I eventually got my bum around to sorting this out.

The problem is a slight deviance in file format that the useless Audi MMI software cannot deal with. All my unplayable files were MP3 and MPEG Layer 1 etc....all should be playable according to the spec from Audi (and indeed, played on my RNS in my previous Touareg).

The very slight difference I could not resolve directly as it all seemed to be the same!?!?! So I re-encoded the files that wouldn't play using Free Audio Convertor from www.dvdvidoesoft.com (http://www.dvdvidoesoft.com) Great app that allows batch conversion.

All plays fine now. At last!

my father in law had this problem in a 2011 Q5, turned out to be the format, quite a few of his songs were WMA not MP3
