For the last few months I have been unable to reset the Av MPG, AV Speed and Timer on the DASH computer. Normally I can reset any of these by holding down the button on underside of the indicator stalk for a few seconds. Now, when I do this, the whole display goes blank. Press the button again and the item is back again (not reset). VERY occasionally the reset function will be r-eactivated - I think this occurs when the trip odometer gets to 2000 miles and resets to zero. As I say, I think this event reactivates the reset funtion above. Disconnect/reconnect the battery has no effect.
VCDS does not show any instrument (or other) fault.

Anyone come acoss this one before?

Reset is a short pulse, as you have discovered if you press it for too long the display goes off. Regards Peter

Nthe reset button does 2 things, a short press turns the dis on & off. a long press resets the mpg or whatever was active at that time, try a long press when wiggling the stalk it may be a poor connection in the button or stalk, failing that check wiring to stalk & a strip and clean of the stalk and button

Andy, you are the tops! A little wiggle of the stalk with a long press and bingo - setting is reset. This stalk was replaced by Audi a few years back - the indicators were clicking on after indicating and return. Looks like there is another wiring check coming soon. In the meatime I will "continue wiggling" until it is a real problem! I am afraid to say this - the last problem witn my Allroad is now resolved. Fingers crossed! Many thanks for the suggestion.
