Hello,
Just joined the forum when I was looking for a car, really good advice and tips already picked up, thanks.

Picked up my first Audi today (checked the plenum chamber straight away!) and all good on the 180 miles home except for the last 10. Dropped 3 cylinders I think and engine management light flashing and / or staying on depending on what I was doing. Coil pack? Plug? car has 93k and good service history but hasn't moved for a month apparently. Managed 31 mpg for first 100 miles and then 28mpg for next 50 (but bigger smiles)

I need to clear codes and see whats going on, so I am going to get a VAG COM or similar, what do members recommend? Happy to use a USB one but not sure how good they are.

Lastly (sorry to go on) does anyone know a good Audi specialist garage in / near Bristol?

Thanks, Jim

What is the cars engine code? Dropping 3 cylinders doesn't sound like a coil pack issue sounds like the reason the last owner sold the car-complain and they will say "ohh it never did that for me, no never..."

Yup, a bit of a worry, sure its not terminal though, he had a nice new S4 and was a vicar so its probably half cortina half audi! Engine code? is that the number in the spare wheel well that I have seen mentioned?

Hello, engine code is ASN - LY5X/LY5X. Better half found a decent Audi specialist in Bristol, P D Cars in Horfield, good guys and found a cylinder 4 misfire logged. New coil pack ordered and I will pick the car up on Saturday as I am miles away tomorrow and then a decent run back up to Staffordshire as my brother is determined his 525 has the upper edge.... Cheers, Jim

ASN is the engine code but LY5X tells me the car is Aqua Blue Metallic.

Yes, its official I have never been the sharpest tool in the box! Glad the colour is right though, makes a change for me not to buy a total ringer.
