I bought a passat highline estate about four weeks ago from a large car franchise in Glasgow around four weeks ago (60 plate, 22k miles). While washing the car at the weekend I noticed bad flaking on one wheel and bad flaking on another wheel but right next to a large gash from where it had been kerbed.
The warranty clerk has advised that the first wheel and another which he found a small defect (peeling) will be replaced under warranty but not the one with the gash next to it since the peeling has probably occurred due to the damage. (this is quite obvious)
Is there any point in writing to the franchise or vw direct to complain that I believe all four wheels should be replaced as two have been found to be faulty? Other option is to swap over the spare wheel which is spotless but then i will have three new wheels?
