black smoke issue

Hi, sorry if this problem was discussed before but I can't find a thread with a solutions for it.I bought my 55 2l sport passat 2 years ago 37k mileage,very soon after I've done the MOT when I've noticed black smoke was coming out when rev hard.Now 2 years later at 78k smoke is still coming out but I think more then before,no other issues or light on dash just the smoke.Also when changing gears there is a black puff in between. I always believed the injectors are at fault,but now with the new ones same thing.Anyone had same prblm,could be glow plugs,never changed them until now?

Won't be the glowplugs, they only work on start up. Have you changed the air filter recently?

Get your EGR Valve cleaned, that should reduce the black smoke by alot.

my jetta is the same under hard acceleration it smokes really badly was told egr valve will get round to cleaning it out one of these days

A new fuel filter is the best option to reduce the smoke, they all do smoke btw it's because they are loose ringed engines, hth.

I've changed air filter about 6k ago with the polen and oil change.Diesel filter was changed about 25k ago.I will change them all in about 2-3k miles when i'll do the oil change.Where is located the Egr valve and is something i can do by myself?

full service 3k ago with all new filters every year mate i dont scrimp on service or repair because i have plenty of mechanics in the family and my mate wife works in the local audi dealers and gets me all my parts at cost

It's the silver thing between the black manifold and the thick rubber hose, warning now it's not an easy novice job, you have to take it off a certain way due to the easy way having a blocked bolt head, you need to remove it with the black inlet manifold then part them off the car as the attached pipe won't move enough to get on that final bolt, hth.

This is what i found on martin website according to the data on 2l b6 this EGR needs to be changed.Has anybody got any idea has much would it be?

I'm assuming it will cost around £130 to clean the EGR valve. Why don't you call up a few garages and find out the cost to clean?

according to martins site a b6 2.0tdi egr cant usually be cleaned as its the electric one
