Does a fault code show up when internal batteries in alarm siren give problems ?

Michael.

Mine occasionally gives 4 beeps as I start the engine, which usually means that the alarm backup battery is on its way out. There are no fault codes stored on mine. I haven't tried measuring blocks to see if there's a voltage reading.

There is a how-to somewhere on replacing the standard backup battery with a heavier duty set of rechargeables.

Thanks Nick
Is yours to the point where it triggers the alarm.
I came across the info on replacing batteries, and it is very useful.
I am trying process of elimination to find cause of alarm going off in the early hours.
I have a few codes to check but I was wondering if low siren battery power could set off alarm without putting up a code.
Regards,
Michael.

If the alarm has been activated, a code read of the alarm module should tell you what activated it - If I activate mine by locking myself in it, it says "Activated by internal monitoring"

I previously had a Saab 9-5 which had duff alarm siren that would sound at odd times with no cause.
Turned out to be an issue with the batteries in the siren: Saab wanted £200 for a new siren.
I removed the old one, separated the case and cabled in some replacements for about £10 and a couple of hours time.

Hi, I know its an old post now, but I thought I would add some info for future ref.
Scanned mine 02' C5 recently which has siren batteries dying with ocasional 4 beeps on cold start and had alarm going off for no reason also and got this fault logged:
01134 - Alarm Horn (H12)
77-10 - Internal Supply Voltage - Intermittent

So it looks like it does throw up a code when batteries are giving up, maybe not on all models.
Hope this helps someone...
