Hi. My car is getting ready for full set of discs and pads. Wondered if anyone can recommend a decent set of stoppers for right price. I know genuine is the way to go but as I age, the tighter the purse strings get 😄
Thanks
Matt

I've just got a full set (front & rear) of Padgid Pads from Eurocarparts for £74 free delivery.
Pretty good ?

My previous B5 estate was bought sh and the new aftermarket front brakes it came with (discs & pads) were sooo bad even fully bedded in. I just would not risk driving it!. Getting VW genuine parts fitted transformed the braking. On my chipped B4 tdi estate before that I tried EBC Green pads & yes, while they did provide more powerful braking capacity when pressing on, boy did they chew up the oem discs in the process.
Personally, I have found VWs oem stuff to be excellent quality, tho if you're a hard driving sort you'd be better off looking at more serious upgrades ... Brembos etc.
However, only got my B6 late 08 Highline estate very recently & have just been informed that at 42 K mls it needs new front pads & discs. I will shortly fit oem 'cos apart from good experience with previous Passats, this one comes with the VW 1 yr assured warranty & I don't want to do anything to effect it's validity. Been quoted £250 fully fitted by the local VW dealer (not the one I bought the car from) and I trust their judgement & pricing after so many years of using them.

Jurids are quite good and reasonable, GSF stock those and it's best to buy front and back at the same time, on my Superb a full set was £45 iirc, but that was 4 years ago and the B6 is more anyway, rears for mine were Honeywell @ £30 about a year ago iirc.

I think OEM disks and pads worth it. Still on my original front discs @ 94k. Only seized caliper took rears out last month.
